Leven fibre broadband upgrade praised by MSP
A project that will bring fibre optic broadband access to around 8,000 properties in the Fife town of Leven has been welcomed by the area's MSP.

Tricia Marwick, who is the MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes, was keen to stress how important the move - which should be completed in spring 2014 - would be for the town.

She claimed access to superfast connections would not only benefit the area socially, but would also be great news for local businesses.

Ms Marwick said: "Better, faster communications boost businesses, helping them grow and create more jobs. What's more, local residents can enjoy faster browsing and downloading at home."

The MSP went on to say that she hoped the rollout would extend to the remaining areas of her constituency that are still to gain access to superfast services.

Leven's upgrade is part of a £2.5 billion project by service provider BT, which aims to install fibre optic broadband connections nationwide.

It joins nearby areas that already have access, such as Dalgety, Dunfermline, Inverkeithing and Kirkcaldy.
