Mark Lancaster MP welcomes Milton Keynes broadband funding boost
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has announced that it will be providing UK authorities with £250 million to enable superfast broadband to be extended to an increased number of businesses, schools and residences across the country.

One of the areas set to benefit from substantial funding is Milton Keynes, where £3.18 million will be invested in providing the service - news that has been welcomed with enthusiasm by local MP Mark Lancaster.

He said: "This investment will be welcome in Milton Keynes … [it] is a growing city with new businesses arriving every year and this will only serve to encourage further development."

Mr Lancaster added that he hopes it will not just be businesses that benefit from the funding, but that it will also go towards improving broadband speed for local residents.

It is thought that by 2017, around 95 per cent of UK locations will have access to superfast broadband. Currently 10,000 new homes are added to the service each week, a figure that is expected to rise to 40,000 by the summer.
