It has been announced which areas are to be among the first to benefit from the £20 million Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire rollout programme over the coming months.

Owen Moody, BT Regional Director for the East Midlands, said: "After weeks of meticulous planning and hard work, we are delighted to reveal the first locations that will benefit from this ambitious project."

He added that bringing superfast fibre broadband to the area will boost the local economy and help secure further jobs for the community.

Mr Moody also said the high-speed service will be of "enormous benefit to local businesses", as they will be able to increase their presence both in the UK and overseas thanks to improved internet connections.

Those based in Arnold and Misterton will be the first to gain access to fibre broadband later this month, with areas including Burton Joyce, Newark, Collingham, Bingham, Worksop, Woodborough, Mansfield, East Leake and Saunby all set to be connected by the end of July.

It is hoped that 95 per cent of residences and firms in Nottinghamshire will be enjoying the benefits of superfast broadband by 2016.
