Onlincolnshire hails super-fast broadband progress
Onlincolnshire, the organisation tasked with rolling out faster broadband across Lincolnshire, has hailed the progress made towards improving connectivity throughout the county over the past year.

During 2012, super-fast broadband has been extended to several additional exchange areas in Lincolnshire as part of BT's commercial deployment.

Grantham, Boston, Sleaford, Birchwood, Brigg, Gainsborough and Lincoln were among the areas to benefit from the telecoms giant's £2.5 billion investment in fibre optic broadband.

Lincolnshire residents have also shown their support for next-generation broadband access to be further increased, with more than 10,000 people signing the Onlincolnshire petition to illustrate their demand for the technology.

According to Onlincolnshire, this represents "an important milestone which will help the faster rollout of better services to exchanges near you".

The organisation promised there will be "many more exciting developments to report in the new year" as fast broadband coverage is further increased.

By 2015, Onlincolnshire aims to bring super-fast broadband services to at least 90 per cent of the county.
