Road safety concerns over broadband cabinet
Residents based in the village of Kempsey in Worcestershire have aired their concerns about the impact a new fibre broadband cabinet will have on road safety in the area.

Worcester News reports BT Openreach has installed a new green roadside box at the junction of two roads in the village, which has raised fears that car accidents could increase due to motorists' views of the road being blocked.

Retired Engineer Tony Denny has lived in the Kempsey area for 45 years. He stated: "I can't believe they would stick one of these big boxes in a line of sight. It's rather large to say the least and it poses a danger to road users."

The installation of the cabinet was approved by Worcestershire County Council, but Mr Denny is concerned Councillors did not properly consider the impact the box would have on road safety.

In response, a BT Openreach spokesman explained the cabinet would allow around 100 homes to be connected to better broadband, experiencing speeds of up to 80Mbps.
