Rural super-fast broadband may take time to perfect
The provision of next-generation broadband to rural areas of the country is a complicated task and one that might require a bit of patience to perfect.

This is according to Antony Walker, chief executive of the Broadband Stakeholder Group, which is the UK's leading advisory group on the matter.

Commenting just over two months after the government announced details of a strategy to ensure that by 2015 the nation has the best broadband offering throughout Europe, Mr Walker said the issue of broadband in rural regions is being taken "very seriously" as there is a lot to learn.

"Nobody's really done this before," he said. "Therefore, it takes time to work out how to get it right."

Last week, Labour MP for Wrexham Ian Lucas told PC Pro he was pressing the government to "pull its finger out" and make progress with four rural pilot schemes aimed at establishing the costs and challenges involved with providing super-fast broadband.
