BT reports growth in high-speed broadband subscriptions
BT has revealed the number of customers signed up to its high-speed broadband propositions has increased significantly in recent months.

In its results for the second quarter of the company's 2010-11 financial year, BT stated around 1.6 million subscribers are now on a 20Mb/s or BT Infinity fibre optic broadband package.

Furthermore, the broadband bundle provider said some 38,000 people have chosen Infinity, with this figure increasing at a rate of more than 4,000 per week.

The latest part of the country to get access to the group's super-fast broadband service is Harrogate, BT announced earlier this month.

Over the three-month period, BT added a total of 114,000 broadband customers, while its market share of consumer additions in the DSL and LLU sectors stood at 45 per cent - one of its best results of all time.

Chief executive Ian Livingston commented: "We have made significant progress in improving profitability and cash flow, enabling us to invest in building the foundations for revenue growth in 2012-13."
