Cambridge Consultants and Airspan boost mobile broadband network capacity
A collaboration between Cambridge Consultants and Airspan Networks has helped the latter to boost the data capacity of its heterogeneous network base stations.

LTE-Advanced features are included in the enhancement, allowing operators to deploy small cells on the same radio channels as macrocellular LTE mobile broadband networks.

By integrating networks, users can enjoy improved capacity and coverage on both the small-cell and macrocell base stations.

Work on the base stations was part of a wider partnership between the two firms, which are collaborating to bolster the performance and capabilities of Airspan's various LTE products.

Paul Senior, chief technology officer at Airspan, said the small-cell market is growing at a rapid pace, leading to customers demanding platforms that help them launch sooner and with greater degrees of differentiation.

"Cambridge Consultants has been invaluable to us in enabling us to offer a range of extra features and capabilities based on our core technology," he commented.
