Virgin Media Business agrees deal with NHS Norfolk
Virgin Media Business has connected two Norfolk healthcare organisations to a new high-speed network.

The business broadband provider's deal with NHS Norfolk and Norfolk Community Health and Care is designed to help the bodies deliver services to 740,000 people in the area.

Health service staff will benefit from being able to take advantage of secure remote and mobile working facilities, enabling them to give care in the home to the county's dispersed population, Virgin Media Business explained.

Head of health and emergency services for the broadband firm David Astley pointed out that the NHS is endeavouring to transform itself, in order to meet efficiency targets and help patients.

"Technology is at the heart of this, particularly at a local level where every trust's needs are different," Mr Astley added.

Last month, a Virgin Media Business poll found that more than a quarter of people believe they will be able to have an appointment with their GP via webcam in ten years' time.
