Virgin Media Business exec comments on corporate technology predictions
Virgin Media Business's commercial chief has highlighted a forecast from analysts into the top pieces of enterprise technology likely to be used over the coming years.

Writing on the business broadband provider's official blog, Andrew McGrath noted that some of the innovations featuring in the predictions from Gartner - such as cloud computing - are already "starting to become quite mainstream".

However, he claimed other to make the list are "still in their infancy", including context aware computing (CAC), which Gartner believes will be used by more than half of Fortune 500 companies in three years' time.

Mr McGrath stated CAC is designed to offer consumers a more personalised experience, explaining: "Your TV could automatically recommend programmes based on what you've chosen to watch in the past."

Gartner also picked out social analytics - which involves measuring, analysing and interpreting people's interactions and associations - as an area likely to see growth between now and 2013.
