A leading UK broadband ISP supplier has been acquired by telecoms company Daisy Group in a multi-million pound deal.

Broadband connectivity and hosting solutions provider MurphX Innovative Solutions has been sold to the British telecoms firm for an initial cash payment of £4.8 million, it has been reported.

Daisy Group, previously known as Freedom4 Group, is seeking to move into data solutions such as broadband and disposed of its wireless mobile broadband arm WiMAX in a £12.5 million sell-off recently.

The company recently reported a £16.2 million loss over a 15-month period but is upbeat about its market position.

Chief executive Matthew Riley told Crain's Manchester Business that the results "demonstrate the progress we have made towards our aim of becoming one of the largest UK providers of unified communications services and solutions to the SME and mid-market sector".

MurphX is a leading business broadband solutions provider and was announced ISP of the Year 2009 at the Comms Business Awards.
