High-speed broadband now available in two Cornish villages
All residents of two Cornish villages have been given access to high-speed broadband thanks to a new rollout from Vtesse.

A total of 574 properties in Higher Pill, plus 262 in Hatt, will now be able to make downloads at speeds of up to 40Mb/s, which the company claimed will be able to cater for both professional and home broadband users.

Chief executive of Vtesse Broadband Aidan Paul said that prior to the implementation of this network, locals were forced to endure "painfully slow" connections when carrying out even simple online tasks, such as uploading pictures to Facebook and sending email attachments.

"Super-fast broadband makes all this information available at the touch of a button and really has the power to change the way these communities use the internet," Mr Paul commented.

Vtesse is not the only provider engaged in improving broadband services in the south-west. BT revealed earlier this week that almost 90,000 properties in areas such as St Ives and Dawlish will be hooked up to its high-speed 21st Century Network by spring 2011.
