KC aims to boost digital inclusion with cheap PC deal
Cheap PCs and laptops are to be made available to people in the north-east of England by KC in order to cut digital exclusion.

Â
The unemployed and those on qualifying benefits in Hull and east Yorkshire will be offered a PC for just £24 or a laptop for £74, as long as they sign up for a KC landline and broadband bundle.
Â
Microsoft is supporting the initiative and all of the hardware is second-hand and reconditioned.
Â
It comes after research by the firm and Hull City Council found that more than half of people in the city who have never had access to the internet feel the expense of computers is a barrier.
Â
The Office for National Statistics recently revealed that 7.1 million adults in the UK have never been online, so this scheme could help to reduce that figure.
Â
KC Spokesperson Sue Helmont said: "We would encourage anybody who thinks they would benefit from this offer to call us so they can access the growing number of services and information sources that are available online."
