O2 and Be Broadband reach 700,000 active lines
Telefonica has revealed that the broadband subscriber base of Be and O2 rose 42.3 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter.

Telefonica, the Spanish company which owns O2 and its Be Broadband subsidiary, revealed in its financial results for the second quarter of 2010 that the two service providers now have a combined total of 700,000 active lines.
This marks a 42.3 per cent increase on their overall subscriber numbers at the end of June 2009.
As a result of this growth - plus strong performance from O2's mobile phone business - Telefonica saw its UK revenue increase by four per cent year-on-year, reaching €3.4 billion (£2.8 billion).
The news follows Be Broadband's announcement that it will launch a home phone service in the near future, which it pledged would undercut the packages offered by BT.
It will charge £9.50 per month for line rental, with subscribers paying extra for any calls they make, while installation will cost £85 - £42.99 cheaper than BT's price.
