O2 says customers need accurate broadband speed information
O2 has welcomed Ofcom's call for broadband service providers to give a more accurate view of the speeds that customers can expect to receive.

Writing for the telecoms firm's O2 Blog, head of home and broadband Felix Geyr said it is right for people signing up to a new broadband package to be given an estimated minimum and maximum speed for their area.

He acknowledged that some will feel this predicted range may be too vague, but remarked: "I believe this provides customers with more clarity around the variance in speed they may receive."

Mr Geyr went on to state that it will allow consumers who have taken out a new broadband contract to walk away from the agreement inside the first 30 days if they are not receiving the speeds they were promised.

Ofcom found that O2 and Be Broadband - its sister company - are the fastest DSL providers in the UK, with Virgin Media offering the quickest service overall.
