The broadband speeds available at British properties may be listed on Rightmove as a result of a rumoured link-up with BT.

Property website Rightmove is reportedly planning to publish the broadband speeds available at the one million homes listed on its website.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, the online company will put the information on broadband speeds alongside other standard information, such as whether a house has a garage and its number of bedrooms.

A source close to Rightmove said broadband access is becoming one of the top priorities for home buyers.

"By listing broadband speed with all the other property details buyers will be able to weed out homes that don't have high-speed access," the insider stated.

Rightmove is believed to be teaming up with BT for the project, although this has not been officially confirmed.

The online portal is one of the top 20 most popular websites in the UK and more than 90 per cent of all British estate agents are signed up as members.

I think that rightmove are quite correct in identifying that broadband is a top priority for homebuyers. As an online estate agent we are asked the question frequently
