Superfast BT broadband rolled out in Milton Keynes
People living in Milton Keynes can access superfast broadband from BT after fibre-to-the-premises technology was rolled out there.
More than 11,000 homes in the area will be able to access the fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology, reports PC Advisor.
Approximately 500 customers have already signed up to receive BT's superfast broadband services, with download speeds of up to 100Mbps and upload rates which can potentially reach 30Mbps on offer.
Johnny McQuoid, director of BT's Superfast Broadband Programme, explained it hopes to roll out FTTP broadband to around 270,000 homes in the UK by September this year.
The work is taking place as part of plans to give two-thirds of the country the ability to make use of fibre broadband by 2015.
Earlier this week, BT came in for praise from Ofcom for the upload speeds available in its Infinity package.
The regulator found that it offered average speeds of 8Mbps to customers, well ahead of the 2.5Mbps from second-placed Virgin Media.
