TalkTalk says public sector squeeze could affect broadband uptake
Tristia Clarke, commercial director at TalkTalk, is concerned about some households' ability to continue paying for home broadband.
According to Tristia Clarke, commercial director at TalkTalk, many families will be feeling the squeeze over the coming months as redundancies mount up.
She told the company blog that small changes in price or the level of disposable income can have a direct impact upon broadband uptake.
"There are millions of people who are on the margins of the broadband revolution," Ms Clarke added.
"Some are currently online, some are not, but in both cases a few pounds per month can make the difference between having broadband access at home and not."
She expressed concern that public sector workers may be disproportionately excluded from internet access, at the very time the government is committed to extending it.
Earlier this year, TalkTalk split from former parent company Carphone Warehouse and began operating as an independent broadband provider.
