Virgin Media launches petition against misleading broadband ads
Virgin Media has repeated calls for rival internet service providers (ISPs) to cease advertising broadband speeds in a "misleading" manner.

The cable broadband company claimed many of its competitors promote headline speeds of up to 20 or 24Mb/s, while in reality the UK's average download capacity is just 6.5Mb/s.

Consequently, Virgin Media has launched its Stop the Broadband Con website, which contains a petition calling for all ISPs to deliver accurate figures regarding the speeds their customers receive.

Research conducted by ICM on behalf of the organisation recently revealed that only two per cent of consumers believe "up to" speeds are a clear or helpful method of promoting broadband packages.

Founder of the Virgin Group Richard Branson has given his support to the protest, stating everyone deserves to have a home broadband connection they can trust.

"I'm challenging all broadband providers to be honest with their customers and ask people to add their voice to the campaign," he added.

VM is petitioning for clear broadband speeds advertisements and contradicts itself, obviously Richard Branson has little knowledge what is happening. VM is oversubscribed, just have a look at this official forum: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Fibre-optic-broadband-cable/bd-p/Fibre
