People using leading broadband provider Virgin Media's digital TV platform will be able to access high definition (HD) films through Film4 HD, it has been announced.

The company has revealed that the channel is to be exclusively launched later this year and will offer home broadband users a variety of movies each day.

Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, highlighted the track record of Channel 4 and emphasised the draw that this content provides to those looking for broadband packages.

She said: "There's a growing appetite for HD and our line up of C4HD, E4HD and, now, Film4HD provides a great choice of HD content for viewers."

Since the start of 2010, leading broadband provider Virgin Media has announced it will be launching four new HD channels, with additional details due in the next few months.

The company also recently announced that it would be introducing a broadband package offering users speeds of up to 100Mb, 24 times the average rate in the UK.
