Broadband boosts 'booming' digital economy
The UK's digital economy is said to be booming, thanks to the ever-increasing role of broadband in our daily lives.

Social networking, mobiles and video-based communications are all set for future growth, according to Melina Jacovou, managing director of the Propel London recruitment agency.

She believes that such growth will be "due to the fact that people can access these from everywhere and be online all the time".

As part of this trend, the expert suggests that social media "will be looked at as a completely different entity within a business, and within social there'll be developers, designers and architects".

Ms Jacovou was speaking after a number of new technology apprenticeships were launched by major players in the industry.

Software giant Microsoft has entered into a partnership with IT training company QA Ltd to begin offering Microsoft Partner Apprenticeships, which are open to young people with five or more GCSEs and will lead to a recognised national qualification.
