Broadband investment announced for Leicester
Leicester businesses and residents are to benefit from an investment in broadband services.

Despite plans to reduce council expenditure in the coming years, the local authority has pledged it will be investing a considerable sum into the provision of improved broadband services for local residents and businesses over the months ahead.
City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby told the Leicester Mercury: "What is clear is that what we face will impact on every aspect of the city's life and particularly the people most dependent on council services."
That said, plans to increase access to broadband networks in rural communities will see the authority investing upwards of £13 million as part of the council's latest capital plan for expenditure from April next year.
Meanwhile, a further £1.3 million is to be spent on the continuing development of broadband services for Loughborough science park.
Both of these schemes are aimed at bolstering connectivity for the county during a period when budgets are becoming increasingly tight.
