BT adds two millionth Wi-Fi hotspot
BT has announced the addition of its two millionth wireless broadband hotspot in the UK.

In the past six months, the broadband bundle provider has added more than 780,000 Wi-Fi zones to its existing network, with the most recent of these launching at Charing Cross Tube station at the start of this month.

This latest hotspot - run as a six-month trial by BT Openzone and London Underground - will give all Wi-Fi users live Transport for London service updates.

Chief executive of BT Retail Gavin Patterson promised the company will continue to expand its wireless infrastructure in line with growing consumer demand, as an increasing number of people purchase smartphones, laptops and other such gadgets.

He went on to point out that existing BT Broadband subscribers are in a prime position to reap the benefits of the technology.

"Our BT Total Broadband customers have free and unlimited access to the largest Wi-Fi network in the UK included in their broadband package," Mr Patterson remarked.
