Lancashire County Council and BT are inviting local businesses to attend free training sessions designed to help them make the most of fibre optic broadband connectivity.

The initiative is part of the Superfast Lancashire public-private partnership, which aims to bring high-speed broadband to 97 per cent of homes and businesses across the county by the end of 2015.

Support services will be offered by a newly appointed team of business advisers, who will hold skills master classes, training workshops and more, reports the Lancashire Telegraph.

Mark Chamberlain, head of the new advisory team, explained that super-fast broadband offers many more benefits than just faster web browsing.

"It can revolutionise the way you do business ... and there's compelling evidence that companies who use ICT effectively to support growth or improve efficiency gain a real competitive advantage," he said.

Three pilot workshops on digital marketing, cloud computing, video conferencing and other online solutions will be held at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston on May 7th and 8th 2013.
