BT bringing faster broadband to 90,000 south-west properties
Telecoms giant BT has revealed it will be upgrading its broadband infrastructure in the south-west.
The telecoms giant revealed that a number of locations, including St Budeaux, St Ives and Dawlish, are in line to benefit from the improvements, with work expected to be complete by spring 2011.
Almost 90,000 homes and businesses in the region will be given access to download speeds of up to 20Mb/s once the project has been finished.
Furthermore, BT said that over the next year, lines serving 56 per cent of properties in the south-west - representing more than 1.2 million households and company premises - will have been upgraded.
"Faster broadband can help businesses become more competitive and greatly improve the online services available to households," commented BT's south-west regional director Jon Reynolds.
BT has also announced that almost 68,000 properties in Wales will be given access to 21CN technology by next spring.
