Scotland urged to increase broadband access
Scotland needs to increase the number of people who can access broadband services, the chair of a tourism taskforce set up by the nation's government has advised.

Stephen Leckie, who is also the managing director of Crieff Hydro, explained the nation is failing to keep up with the rest of the world when it comes to broadband development and social media.

"There are large parts of Scotland that don't have any broadband access at all, as well as no mobile phone coverage. It's just not good enough in this day and age," he said in comments reported by the Scotsman.

Mr Leckie added that organisations involved in the tourism industry should be making as much use as possible out of sites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

In December, the Scottish government announced it was allocating funding to improve the provision of broadband services in five rural areas of the country.
