Superfast broadband bringing 'great benefits' to Cornwall
Superfast broadband is bringing "great benefits" to Cornwall, including the creation of new jobs and the opportunity for businesses to improve their services thanks to a better internet connection.

These are the words of Nigel Ashcroft, Superfast Cornwall Programme Director for the Cornwall Development Company, who was commenting on the rollout scheme's latest evaluation report.

The document shows that approximately 6,000 businesses in the county are now connected to superfast broadband, with around 200 new firms signing up to receive the high-speed service every month.

Superfast Cornwall looked at data relating to 220 local firms who had access to improved internet for at least a year and estimated that within these, 611 jobs have been created and 807 safeguarded thanks to fibre optic broadband.

Mr Ashcroft said: "The technology is providing an important and lasting boost to the Cornish business community, helping them find new opportunities and ways of working."

He added that the network the superfast rollout programme is creating "will stand Cornwall in good stead for many years to come".
