Twitter 'transforming the way people use broadband'
The ways in which people use the internet is being transformed by Twitter, it is claimed.

Both home and business broadband users are working in different ways thanks to the social networking tool, according to Iain MacMillan, chief executive officer of social media company RMM London.

"For such a small number of users, [Twitter] is clearly shifting the way information is disseminated online, both on an individual and corporate scale," the expert explained.

He added that the impact is "less about Twitter itself", but more about the "ripples" it is emitting across the rest of the internet.

Mr MacMillan was speaking after Twitter announced the launch of its @anywhere service, which will make it easier for websites to integrate their services with the social networking site and will allow users to make use of Twitter functions without leaving the website they're on.

Initial partners for the scheme include Amazon, AdAge, Bing, eBay and a host of other companies.
