Welsh residents encouraged to discover true broadband speeds
People living in Wales have been urged to back a new campaign designed to uncover how fast their broadband connection really is.

In the wake of a report by Ofcom that revealed many customers do not receive the 'up to' broadband speeds advertised by providers, Wales on Sunday and the Western Mail are attempting to find out the true rates available in the nation.

An article in the latter newspaper explained people keen to find out the real speed of their broadband and contribute to the campaign can make use of one of a number of free online testing tools to discover the information.

They can then report back via email, Facebook or Twitter to help build a clearer picture of internet access in Wales.

Ofcom has called for an end to broadband advertising based on 'up to' rates, with the regulator claiming a system related to a typical speeds range would be more accurate.
