West Norfolk business leaders are set to discuss the importance of broadband in a meeting organised by the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce on Friday (February 15th 2013).

The West Norfolk Economic Business Breakfast will focus on two key areas - the need to take on more apprentices and the necessity of improving broadband connectivity.

Karen O'Kane, Better Broadband for Norfolk programme director at Norfolk County Council, is set to give attendees an update on the steps being taken to roll out faster broadband services in the area.

Estimates from the local authority suggest that despite providers like BT planning to undertake commercial rollouts across Norfolk, around 34,000 properties will still be left without even basic broadband by 2015 without the council's intervention.

Nick Daubney, leader of the King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, is also set to give an address at the event.

"As a local authority it is our duty to ensure we do everything we can to enable businesses to grow and thrive, and to do that we need to listen to the needs of business people," he commented.
