B4RN wins free advertising in Local Business Accelerators contest
Community benefit company Broadband for the Rural North (B4RN) is one of two north Lancashire firms to land free local advertising as part of a newspaper industry competition.

B4RN beat off competition from five other small businesses to secure an ad campaign in the Lancaster Guardian and Morecambe Visitor through the Local Business Accelerators contest.

Following the three-month campaign, either B4RN or the other winner - The Bridal House of Torrisholme - will proceed to the regional heats, with a national shortlist set to be unveiled in September.

B4RN aims to bring fibre optic broadband with speeds of 1Gbps to almost 5,000 homes and businesses in isolated north Lancashire communities. So far, around 1,000 properties have signed up for the service.

Professor Barry Forde, chief executive of B4RN and a resident of the village of Quernmore, said the firm is "absolutely delighted" to have been successful in the competition.

"The advertising will be enormously useful because we cover such a large area and it will really help to get the message out there," he added.
