Broadband committee to report on findings
Norfolk County Council's working group on broadband and mobile phone coverage will report its findings this week.

The report will examine the importance of broadband to the area and what can be done to improve the situation in the county.

Philip Duigan, chair of the working group, said broadband speed and access varies a great deal across the county, with some areas having no access at all.

"In our work to date, the working group has found that there is a great need for improved broadband in Norfolk so that we can catch up with many other parts of the country.

"There is certainly a lot of good will and enthusiasm in the county to make this happen, and good work is already underway," he added.

BT has recently unveiled plans to increase its fibre-optic network to reach two-thirds of UK homes by 2015, which it is hoped will redress the issue of broadband 'not-spots' where there is no coverage.
