BT Retail to be split in two from September

BT has announced the impending division of its broadband sales unit.
BT Retail to be split in two from September
BT Retail, the telecoms giant's broadband sales arm, is to be divided into two units from this September.

The split will create two new divisions, BT Business and BT Consumer, with the intention of helping the communications company focus more closely on achieving its strategic goals and deliver better service to customers.

Among the organisation's priorities are driving broadband-based consumer services and being the brand for business for small and medium-sized enterprises across the country.

John Petter will become Chief Executive of BT Consumer, moving from his current role as Managing Director of the consumer unit at BT Retail, while business unit Managing Director Graham Sutherland is to take up the position of BT Business Chief Executive.

Gavin Patterson, Chief Executive of BT Retail, said the time has come for the division to take place due to BT's ambitions in the business sector and the intense competition in the consumer market.

"John and Graham are excellent leaders, and I have every confidence they will take the fight to the competition and help BT to grow in the future," he added.
