Communications minister Ed Vaizey is to speak at a broadband conference in Suffolk next month.

The event is to be held in either Beccles or Bungay on April 6th, with the keynote speech coming from the politician, who is responsible for delivering the government's plans for superfast broadband, reports the Eastern Daily Press.

Waveney MP Peter Aldous said the conference will also offer the chance for major broadband providers to lay out their plans for the area.

"Broadband is absolutely central to the economic growth of our region - enabling businesses to operate from remote locations and ensuring local people can access services from home," he explained.

On Mr Vaizey's official website, he stated the issue of broadband rollout is an important one, with around ten per cent of homes currently lacking any form of the service.

He noted a large number of properties in rural areas suffer from poor connections at the moment.
