Essex campaigners call for faster broadband at business parks
Broadband campaigners in the Essex town of Witham are being forced to wait and see if they will benefit from a county council-led rollout.

A number of local industrial estates have been left with poor-quality broadband as BT does not believe that upgrading the exchanges serving these sites would prove to be commercially viable, reports the Braintree and Witham Times.

As such, their only hope for accessing faster connectivity could be the council's Superfast Essex project, which aims to bring fibre broadband within reach of 87 per cent of homes and businesses across the county by the end of summer 2016.

The campaign to bring faster speeds to the area is being led by the owners of Venture Display, a firm based at the Waterside Business Park.

Ian Oliver, a Developer at Venture Display, said: "It is a little disappointing they haven't considered our cabinet worthwhile because at the end of the day we are part of two big industrial estates."
