George Hollingbery MP hails govt broadband investment
Government investment in delivering super-fast broadband to the vast majority of homes across the UK has been welcomed by George Hollingbery.

The MP for Meon Valley, Hampshire, was quoted by the Romsey Advertiser as saying the move will be welcomed by residents in rural areas, where "people do complain about low broadband speeds hindering the rural economy".

Around 90 per cent of UK homes will gain access to high-speed internet thanks to a £530 million fund that will encourage private-sector investment in broadband infrastructure and Mr Hollingbery said the scheme will result in the country having "one of the fastest broadband networks in Europe".

Residents in rural areas should receive a greater share of the government money, as the MP explained it will be allocated based on the number of homes that do not currently have access to acceptable broadband speeds.

Poor access to high-speed broadband has been a long-running issue for rural residents, with Mr Hollingbery acknowledging it as an "increasing problem" in 2010, noting he regularly receives enquiries regarding broadband availability from his constituents.

..... With Mr Hollingbery acknowledging it as an "increasing problem" in 2010... And 2 years later what has he done about it? Absolutely nothing has changed since 2010, broadband speed still less than 2 Mb/s . Come on George, secure some funding for Fibre to the real ' not spots’. Nodding your head and agreeing its poor doesn't get much done does it?
