Milton Keynes broadband rollout to be delayed
Residents have been left frustrated by BT's plans to delay its delivery of superfast broadband to a Milton Keynes estate.
Initially, local people believed the high-speed technology would be delivered to their homes during the summer, but the plans have now been put on hold, MK Web reports.
This delay has affected many residents, with one, Emma Best, being unable to start her online financial consulting company until loading speeds have been improved on the estate.
In addition, people with loved ones living abroad are unable to communicate with them via Skype while broadband speeds remain slow.
BT stated: "Deployment of fibre broadband, as part of the Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) partnership between Milton Keynes Council and BT, to the new development of Walton Grange, has moved from phase one to phase three, which is in 2015.
"There are various challenges in providing fibre broadband technology to the area, namely which type of technology to deploy, Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC) or Fibre To The Premises (FTTP).
"This is currently under discussion between Milton Keynes Council and BT as part of the BDUK programme."
