MP discovers boost better broadband is bringing to Elvington
MP for York Outer Julian Sturdy has paid a visit to Elvington to discover how the arrival of superfast fibre optic broadband in the community has been benefiting local residents and businesses.

Mr Sturdy explained: "Elvington is one of the most outlying villages in my constituency and it's so important that it benefits from the same digital services that so many communities within the City of York take for granted."

The MP took a trip to see the latest green roadside cabinet to be switched on to the fibre network in the village, which is located opposite Elvington Hall.

Its addition to the area means that more than 800 residential and commercial properties in Elvington can now access superfast broadband via network provider BT.

Of these, around 460 have received the high-speed technology under the Superfast North Yorkshire rollout programme, while the remaining 350 or so have been connected by the Broadband East Riding delivery initiative.

Both of these connectivity schemes have been funded by BT and local authorities thanks to the European Regional Development Fund and the government's Broadband Delivery UK cash pot.
