North Warks villagers call for faster broadband
Villagers in North Warwickshire are set to hand over a petition to local MP Dan Byles in a bid to secure faster broadband for the area.

Residents in Baddesley have secured 1,000 signatures and intend to hand the document over to Mr Byles today (October 1st 2012).

Alan Arnold, vice chairman of Baddesley Parish Council, told the Tamworth Herald that the village has been chosen as a 'broadband champion' for the North Warwickshire area.

However, he claimed Baddesley is unable to perform this role due to its own inadequate broadband provision.

"A lot of people in this area can't get broadband and we fear that this means we cannot expand as a community," Mr Arnold explained.

The council chief added that it is currently unclear where government money to support the rollout of super-fast broadband in rural communities will be spent.

By the end of 2015, the Conservative-led coalition is aiming to deliver next-generation broadband connectivity to 90 per cent of UK properties.
