A series of workshops and activity sessions will be held across Nottinghamshire to help rural businesses learn more about the benefits of super-fast broadband.

The events are designed to give firms a clear understanding of services such as ecommerce and digital trading in preparation for the rollout of new cabling and infrastructure over the next two years.

Nottinghamshire County Council, its partners and the government are set to invest a total of £8.5 million on deploying faster broadband services in areas that are set to miss out on commercial investment.

North Nottinghamshire College and The NE Group are set to deliver the educational project, known as Demand Stimulation for Nottinghamshire, under a county council contract.

Keith Girling, chairman of the local authority's economic development committee, said: "We are in a digital era. It is absolutely vital that all businesses are aware of the fantastic opportunities that doing business online can offer to them and their customers."
