Poll calls for improvement in UK broadband
A new poll has revealed that the vast majority of broadband users believe the UK's internet infrastructure needs to be improved.

The study, carried out by tech news site PC Advisor, found that 81.5 per cent of people are currently unhappy with standards of broadband access across the country.

Some 13.1 per cent of respondents said they were satisfied with their current service, while 5.4 per cent stated they were unsure as to whether their existing package was up to scratch.

These results come in the wake of a report from independent thinktank Reform Scotland, which called for the government to invest £200 million in fibre optic cable broadband and other broadband infrastructure north of the border.

Experts at the organisation claimed that access to broadband is just as important as railways and canals were to the Industrial Revolution, BBC News reported.

It added that a minister should be appointed and tasked with improving the reach and speed of broadband in Scotland.
