Barden Network Engineering has relocated one of its sites to South Wales, which will generate 25 jobs for local people.

The firm works to deliver superfast broadband to homes and businesses across the region, but has previously been based in Bristol.

However, it realised a relocation was needed when its rollout area was increased significantly to include more Welsh districts, including Swansea, Port Talbot, Neath, Bridgend, Vale of Glamorgan and Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales Online reports.

Managing Director of Barden Network Kevin Morris explained: "By having such a central and local base, it will enable us to install superfast broadband more efficiently, as travelling time will be minimised."

The new site is in Merthyr Tydfil and expands on the company's three English depots - in Honiton, Grampound Road and Wotton-under-Edge - while the 25 new recruits will join the organisation's 180 employees.

Barden Network is assisting the Welsh government in rolling out the high-speed broadband service to residential and commercial properties in the country, with 96 per cent of premises set to be connected by the end of 2016.
