Superfast Cornwall extends broadband rollout
Superfast Cornwall has announced it will be connecting ten difficult-to-reach communities to fibre broadband by early 2015.

The news comes after recent confirmation from the government that it would be concentrating on delivering the superfast service to the five per cent of homes and businesses not set to be connected via commercial rollout programmes, which aim to bring the high-speed technology to 95 per cent of premises in the next few years.

Alternative delivery methods are being explored in such areas, with BT Superfast Cornwall Programme Director Ranulf Scarborough explaining: "We will look at each area in turn to determine the best way to provide fibre broadband. It will be a combination of fibre to the cabinet and fibre to the premises."

The ten communities set to be targeted during this latest stage of the Superfast Cornwall rollout are Badgall, Tregeare, St Clether, Laneast, Nancledra, Philleigh, Trethewell, Trewithian, Rosevine and Polhendra.

Altogether, the regional rollout project has already delivered the high-speed technology to 90 per cent of premises in the county - a figure that looks set to increase in the near future.
