Superfast fibre optic broadband has arrived in Sandymoor thanks to the Connecting Cheshire rollout programme.

An additional 800 premises in the Halton area can now access the high-speed technology, meaning the total connected to the fibre network has reached 2,887, with this figure set to increase throughout the next year.

Local councillors John and Marjorie Bradshaw commented: "Fibre broadband coming to Sandymoor is great news. We are pleased that residents can now upgrade and take advantage of improved and faster broadband."

They added the technology's arrival "will be a real boon" for people who work from home, as well as private users.

Overall, the £28.5 million Connecting Cheshire initiative is set to deliver better broadband to over 80,000 homes and businesses in the county. Along with BT's commercial rollout, this will mean 96 per cent of Cheshire (around 400,000 properties) will be able to access internet loading speeds of up to 80Mbps by the end of next year.
