Superfast Leicestershire reaches 10,000 properties milestone
The number of homes and businesses to have benefited from fibre optic broadband as a result of the government's Superfast Leicestershire has now reached 10,000.

It is a scheme that is still ongoing as the number of properties to be connected continues to increase, with 37 new locations being unveiled - Stoney Stanton, Barkby, Bringhurst and Barlestone are just some of the spots to have been given an upgrade.

They join areas such as Cossington, Kibworth and Foxton, which have seen their connectivity upgraded since the project commenced last July. A full list of the latest locations to receive the technology can be found on the Superfast Leicestershire website.

Leicestershire County Council's Cabinet Member for Broadband Pam Posnett explained that the move has the opportunity to improve the lives of people in their jobs and at home.

She said: "Reaching 10,000 homes and businesses is a major milestone. Superfast broadband makes a real difference to the strength of our communities and local economy and I look forward to hitting our eventual target of 62,000."
